If you want to stay on top of whatever is inside certain folders, then you need to check out Folder2List, an application offered by Gillmeister Software. This application allows you to create a folder content list and print out or export that list. As you would expect, you can customize the way the list looks.

You can install Folder2List on a PC powered by anything from XP to Windows 8. To install the application, you will have to go through a standard setup procedure: download an executable, run it, click through the setup wizard. You will get to choose one of two languages for the setup: English or German.

The panel in the upper right hand corner allows you to explore your drives and select a folder. Once you select one, its contents will be displayed in the panel to the right. Down at the bottom there’s a tabbed panel that allows you to access the output, layout, design, columns, and formatting options.

Using Folder2List is a very simple process. The first thing you need to do is select a folder. After that you should go through the aforementioned output, layout, design, columns, and formatting options – so you can set things up just the way you want them. Last but not least, you must choose if you want to print out the list or export it. You can export the list as a PDF, TXT, HTML, CSV, or XLS file.

Folder2List is not free, it is only free to try. The trial is limited to reading no more than 10 files per folder.

Specify how to create folder content lists, then print them out or export them. You can do this with the greatest of ease by using Folder2List.

Pros

English and German are supported. The interface is easy to navigate. There are multiple options to customize the folder content list. You can export the list as a PDF, TXT, HTML, CSV, or XLS file. You can print out the list.

Cons

The trial is limited to reading no more than 10 files per folder.
